To all Mechanical Engineering majors at The Beach,

I'd like to introduce you to a new student organization on campus. Pi Tau Sigma is an academic honor society for mechanical engineering majors and professionals. The object of our organization is to encourage and recognize superior scholarship, to foster the high ideals of the engineering profession, to stimulate interest in coordinate departmental activities, to promote the mutual professional welfare of our members, and to develop in mechanical engineering students the attributes necessary for effective leadership and civic responsibilities.

The California Sigma Eta Chapter was originally chartered at California State University, Long Beach, on May 13, 1966, but went inactive in May 2002. During the Fall 2009 semester a petition was circulated to reestablish Pi Tau Sigma at The Beach and on March 24, 2010, the founding meeting was held. Our principle goals are to inform ME majors of the various career options within our industry, provide networking opportunities with professionals, and give back to our community.

Eligibility requirements are as follows:

- 1st Semester Juniors: Top 25% of class

- 2nd Semester Juniors: Top 33% of class

- Seniors: Top 35% of class

- Graduate students: spaces limited as a proportion of total membership

We will be posting a list of eligible students on the second floor of the VEC building as soon as it is available.

If you are intererested in joining or would like any further information, please email Bill Johns, Chapter President, at president@csulbpts.org.

Thanks!
